Park City Education Foundation gratefully announces a $50,000 matching challenge grant for its “Give $180 to Beat the Call” campaign. Thanks to this generous challenge grant, every single dollar donated from 9/8 - 9/25, up to $50,000, will be DOUBLED.
A $180 donation turns into $360. A $1,000 donation to join Scholar Circle now becomes $2,000. Anything donated until September 25, 2020, will be doubled to raise critical funds for Park City’s students, teachers, and schools – thanks to the generosity of anonymous community donors.
“Each year, PCEF starts the school year with the Give $180 fundraising initiative, because $180 amounts to $1 per school day,” says Abby McNulty, Executive Director of the Park City Education Foundation. “But this year, as Park City continues to deal with coronavirus, the need is greater than ever. This year, unprecedented challenges equal urgent needs, and PCEF is asking for community support to help change the equation.
"The challenge grant donors have generously stepped up to help every family in Park City double their donation to support our students, teachers, and schools."
“Give $180 to Beat the Call” runs from July 1 through September 25, 2020. Anything donated in that time frame counts, and PCSD families “beat the call” by not getting a phone-a-thon call. Each family is asked to donate $1 per school day per child. The money directly supports the 8 key programs funded by PCEF:
-
Preschool
-
EVA: Elementary Visual Arts
-
Afterschool: K - 9th grade
-
STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Match
-
PCCAPS: Park City Center for Advanced Professional Studies (PCHS juniors and seniors)
-
Bright Futures Park City: First-generation college coaching program
-
Classroom and Express Grants: With vision, diligence, and adaptability, PCEF invests in Classroom Grants that support academic success, the whole child, and innovation. PCEF’s Emergency Express Grants program funds immediate in-person and online learning needs.
-
Idea Lab: Student and Teacher voice in education
New this year - the school with the highest percentage of parents giving to PCEF by September 25th can win grants from the UPS Stores Park City worth up to $8,000! The funds go to the school PTO, which then distributes the money as needed.
-
1st place PTO = $8,000 UPS Stores Park City Grant
-
2nd place PTO = $4,000 UPS Stores Park City Grant
-
3rd place PTO = $2,000 UPS Stores Park City Grant
-
4th place - 7th place PTO = $1,000 UPS Stores Park City Grant
"We knew the PTO's and PTA's were also going to have a harder time with their fundraising this year, too, so we wanted to make the grant more meaningful. In the past, it has been a $2,500 grant for one school. This way, every school can earn a grant, thanks to the UPS Stores Park City," noted PCEF Associate Director Jennifer Billow.
The matching grant and the increased grant from UPS Stores Park City come at a time when the need is more urgent than ever. In addition to myriad challenges brought on by coronavirus, Utah is the lowest funded public education system in the country. On top of that - 96% of Park City’s state education tax dollars go to other districts.
This year, unprecedented challenges = urgent needs. The community can help Park City students thrive, regardless of present challenges. Park City Education Foundation is grateful for community support as it works to change the equation.
