Park City's Educators Are Excellent!

PCEF Excellent Educator Program
Funded by the Louis and Doilney Families
& The Sarah & Stephen Doilney Award

In 1996, Jim Doilney and PCEF created the Excellent Educator Awards to honor the educators in the Park City School District. Jim was inspired by his mother who was a teacher. Since 2019 he has been joined by the Louis Family to continue this endeavor, as Hank Louis was a former educator.

Every year, educators in each school determine Park City Education Foundation’s Excellent Educators. This year, eight Park City teachers have been honored by their peers and students as the best of the best!

“It’s purely voted on by teachers, staff and admin from each school, and they select who best exemplifies an excellent educator,” Jennifer Billow, PCEF's Vice President of Advancement. “Any full-time position can be nominated.”

PCEF’s Excellent Educators for 2023/2024:

  • Ecker Hill Middle School → Jen Hales, Social Studies Teacher

  • Jeremy Ranch Elementary School → Linda Hilton

  • McPolin Elementary School →  Daniel Wells

  • Park City High School → It's a Tie: Gaylynn Mooney, Science Teacher & Holly Huggins, Special Education Teacher

  • Parley's Park Elementary School → LeAnn Rocchi

  • Trailside Elementary School → Eva Montejano

  • Treasure Mountain Junior High → Casey Ryan, Social Studies Teacher

Sarah & Stephen Doilney Award Winner → Ed Mulick, PCHS Science Teacher – 5th time winner!

The Sarah & Stephen Doilney Award is voted on by the Senior Class at Park City High School to honor the most influential educator of their school career. PCHS Science teacher Ed Mulick is this year’s recipient; and it's his 5th time to win this award. Mulick was first named the award winner in 2002. He also won it in 2009, 2015 and 2021.

Inspired by his students, Ed Mulick told the Park Record, “We form little whirlwind relationships every year. They are intense. They are real, and when one year ends, the next year comes and you have another 160 whirlwinds that start up.”

“We live in a community that supports education, and not only financially,” he said. “Awards like this help keep a little wind in our sails," Mulick said referencing what the award means to him.

Congratulations to Park City’s Excellent Educators! In addition to award celebrations at each school! Thanks to the Excellent Educator Program, funded by the Louis and Doilney families, all Park City School District employees also received a complimentary entry for this year’s Running with Ed event, courtesy of the Doilney and Louis families, and a caramel apple from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.

"What we do is helping our community understand that you can’t have a great community if you don’t have great schools, and you can’t have great schools without great teachers,” Billow said.
