RWE 2023 Blasts Past Its Goal!

Running with Ed 2023:

  • 1100 Participants
  • 200 Volunteers
  • $350,000+ raised for PCEF programs, which impact every single PCSD student & educator!

Our Park City community has come together again to celebrate and support our students, educators, and schools in a vibrant, joyful, beloved event.

1100 people walked, danced, jumped, and ran in Park City Education Foundation’s Running with Ed, a fundraiser that supports Park City's students, educators, and schools. Thanks to these participants, our donors, and the sponsors who partner with PCEF, our incredible community raised more than $350,000!

100% of the money raised through RWE stays in Park City: it touches more than 100 PCEF programs, in all of the Park City schools.

The funds are allocated through educator-powered Classroom Grants, and will positively impact every single Park City student. In fact, this year's RWE money is already being put to work as teachers prepare for the upcoming school year!  [ADD LINK TO 2023 CLASSROOM GRANTS]

It was a picture-perfect day. Temperatures in the 70s, costumes, joyous smiles, huge hugs, camaraderie, and memories made. Even a little running thrown in. Thanks to the support of our community, the 14th annual Running with Ed relay race was a record-breaking success for PCEF; 1100 runners, 200 volunteers, supportive sponsors and countless donors helped us reach our fundraising goal - over $350,000!

PCEF is delighted to beat the Running with Ed fundraising goal - but the event is about so much more than money... It's a chance for people to come together to honor and celebrate our students, teachers and staff on a day filled with joy and happiness.

And *that* is a goal we wish we could meet every day of the year.

In addition to Classroom Grants, which are funded by RWE, three elementary schools will receive THOUSANDS more from Park City Mountain Grants. Parley's Park, Trailside, and McPolin Elementary Schools won $5,000, $4,000, and $3,000, respectively, based on their high participation percentages.

“Park City is the wealthiest micropolitan area in the country, so people always wonder why our schools don’t have the money they need,” said Jennifer Billow, PCEF’s Vice President of Advancement. ”It’s because Utah has the lowest per-pupil education funding in the entire nation. Plus, 96% of Park City’s state-collected education tax dollars leave town to even things up around the state."

Last year, PCEF donors provided more than 2 million dollars in funding for 8 Signature Initiatives

  1. Preschool
  2. Elementary Visual Arts (EVA)
  3. Afterschool
  4. Educator and Student Wellness
  5. Real World Learning
  6. Bright Futures
  7. Classroom and Express Grants
  8. Innovation Lab

"We can't put on an event of this caliber without our sponsors," Billow continued. "From our Presenting Sponsors – Vail Resorts Epic Promise/Park City Mountain and Event Network – to home-grown businesses like The Beau Collective, they provide the foundation for us to be able to put on this race."

“For the third year in a row, Running with Ed has broken records,” said Abby McNulty, President and CEO of Park City Education Foundation. “It’s a resounding endorsement of our community's excellent educators. Not only that, it indicates the recognition that fantastic public education ensures our community’s continued prosperity and stability - a very worthy investment.”
