PCEF STAFF
Valeria Sandoval
Originally from Los Angeles, Valeria is a Utahn at heart. As a daughter to Mexican and Guatemalan immigrants, Valeria is proud to join the Bright Futures team to further support students who, like herself, are the first in their families to attend college. She is a First Generation Legacy Scholar graduate from Westminster. After pursuing her degree in Sociology with an emphasis in Social Work and a minor in Gender Studies, she began working in the non profit sector and in educational programs such as YWCA and The Boys and Girls Club.
As a first generation college graduate, she knows first hand the experiences and hardships of first generation students and how to navigate challenging obstacles. Her passion for social justice and education lead her to PCEF and the efforts put in place to prioritize the needs of students of all backgrounds.
In her free time Valeria hikes with her family and plays with her border collie. She also loves to travel to discover new beaches and cities, and enjoys baking.
