Park City School District continues to prioritize opportunities for its youngest learners with a second Preschool expansion planned for completion at Parley’s Park and Trailside Elementary Schools by the start of the 2025/26 school year. This follows the success of Phase I, which added two classrooms each at Jeremy Ranch and McPolin Elementary Schools, opening to Preschoolers in August 2024.
The Phase I expansion was driven by a community survey showing 86% of families needed full-day Preschool or full-day Preschool with aftercare, highlighting the need for greater flexibility for working families. These additions increased district-wide Preschool capacity from 164 to 225, offering full five-day programming and an Afterschool option for 4-year-olds.
Looking ahead, Phase II will double Preschool capacity at Parley’s Park and Trailside, expanding from two classrooms to four at each school. Total enrollment will be able accommodate over 288 students. Additionally, a full five-day Preschool option for 3-year-olds will be available, along with Afterschool programming for this age group. To support the expanded offerings, the district will add a licensed early childhood coordinator to the Preschool team.
The PCSD Preschool program has been supported by PCEF since the beginning in 2010, and provides over $125,000 annually to ensure high-quality programming and accessibility thanks to generous PCEF donors. Reduced tuition options remain available for qualifying families, ensuring that more children can benefit from high-quality, affordable Preschool. Park City Mountain, supported by Vail Resorts EpicPromise are long-time partners, and have provided funding for the Preschool Program since 2014. We are grateful to the Westgate Foundation for their support as well.
